Rear House Extension (single storey) - Blog Part 1 - Footings and Drainage

Part 1 of our house extension being built. Hopefully may be of some use to anyone looking at doing an extension. We’re in York in the UK. The extension is 7.5m x 3.6m

We’ve had to deal with the issues of a shared sewer that runs across the back of the house serving 3 properties, we being the last one before the street on the run.

So far, footings poured and we’re currently digging the trench to re-route the drain right across the back of ours and next doors house.

Building stopped nearly 3 months ago because of COVID-19 and getting decisions back from Yorkshire Water who weren’t working at full capacity.

I’m not a builder so don’t ask any detailed questions! I will try and get an answer though if you have one. The project is being undertaken by Orion Windows in York, with the building done by Mark Watling at Cinder Construction. I'm sorting the plumbing and other bits and pieces.
