The goal of this movie is to complete the game without ever using Mario, and as fast as possible. Note that there are some known frame saves prior to the pause exit, but I didn't have enough motivation to redo everything because RNG is tied to the frame count.

"Without ever using Mario", to be more precise refers to: not unlocking Mario, or using the caps to transform as him. You could even add "not collecting the key" as a requirement, but it wouldn't change much.
Here's the reasoning and the details of what I do to complete the game without using Mario:

The route is simple. To beat bowser, we need someone that can grab him, that is: Mario, Luigi, and of course Wario. The game intends us to unlock Mario first, then Luigi, then Wario, However, we'll have to get a bit more creative, since we can't unlock Mario nor can we defeat boos to unlock Luigi. The only option left is Wario, and to reach him, we need to get out of bounds.
As Yoshi, there was only one known way of doing so, by using the trapdoor of Bowser in the Dark World (https://youtu.be/k1GmrtWTnl8), however, reaching this spot requires the 12 Star door to be open... Which can only be opened as Mario. With Luigi or Mario, it was also possible to clip in the JRB room (https://youtu.be/sLW1lRJKKwk)... but yoshi can't jump as high as the other two.
Until one day, the Youtuber Nathaniel Bandy was attempting to beat the game without Mario, and got stuck here too. The fact that he mentioned this challenge made me think about it again, and I came up with a new idea, that turned out to actually work. I figured out that you could also reach the clipping spot with Yoshi, using a 1-up mushroom to jump in mid-air (more info in the description of the video of the clip: https://youtu.be/lu6BrbEe4QE). This allows us to unlock Wario before anyone else. and once Wario is unlocked, I can make my way up to the final stage by using other various known clips, such as the 50 star door skip (https://youtu.be/hMcbhppfb6Q), but also a new way to rabbit clip to get past the 2nd keydoor.

So, to enter the JRB room, we first need to collect three stars. the fastest way to do this is by doing the moat skip and collecting three stars in the basement. (you can learn more about what happens in the TASvideos submission of the any% TAS: http://tasvideos.org/5417S.html)

Then, I open the room and clip OoB to reach the 2nd floor. There, I do the mirror skip (https://youtu.be/t5mN3OYT-A4) To reach the painting as Yoshi. I complete the level and collect the key, then I do the mirror skip again to pause exit in this level. This is actually faster than going in the Snowman's Land painting, because you don't have the "pick a star" option when entering the painting.

For the last part of this TAS, I talk to the toad, because he makes rabbits appear. It turns out that Wario can't reach the clip spot in the JRB room, so we instead have to use a rabbit clip to get OoB and to the 2nd floor. Here, I mirror clip for the third time, and do the 50 star door skip. However, Wario jumps too low to reach the next floor, so instead I use a heaven portal (explained in this video by Josh65536: https://youtu.be/4IVgXx-ZDHc) to get inside the stage. There, I abuse the weird physics of longjumps to make my way up the stage while being fast. Finally, I beat bowser by abusing this poor touchscreen.

Note that despite our best efforts, Mario still appears after collecting the star, and on the cake. This is an unintended side effect of beating the game without Mario and is completely unavoidable. We can also notice that Wario is still here, so that means we didn't transform into him! the rules aren't broken ;)

So, uhhh... 10k already? Wow. I love you all so much. Less than a year ago I was just happy to have 100 subscribers and now I've got 100x more. It's an incredible growth, and since most of you come from Nathaniel Bandy, I am sure you were waiting for this. It is finally done. I hope you will like it, because this is TAS might be the demonstration of how far glitch hunting has gone since 2004. (well, it will get dethroned when the 150 stars TAS will come out, trust me, there are way more glitches than what this video shows). Btw, talking about great timings, in about 20 days, SM64DS will turn 15 years old!
