BSL023 Introduction to Cable Testing & Review PocketCat 200

This is an introduction to cable testing. There will be more content along with my equipment reviews in future Videos.

In this video I introduce the topic, and I also review a very basic cable tester from Byte Brothers which is a low cost cable mapper/tester/toner accessible to most people.

A lot of problems can be solve with these very simple tools and I like this cable tester as although a low cost item, it's held up really well over time. It can also test for split pairs which a lot of simple cable testers/mappers can't do.

The tone generator is Analogue so most tone probes will be compatible. The tone probe which is available in a kit with this although functional let this product down.

This cable tester can place a tone on any pair or all pairs. It also permits individual pair testing as well as testing of all pairs at once.

This cable Tester by ByteBrothers is designed for use primarily on network cables but I do show in this video several items I have which make this cable tester more useful (patch board, adapters).
