Forgiveness

A video about forgiveness with Mary Karen Read's last words in her journal entry before her death at the Virginia tech shooting.

"When a deep injury is done to us, we will never recover until we forgive" ~Mary Karen Read

Peter Read, the father of Virginia Tech shooting victim Mary Karen Read, said he never intended to give a eulogy at her funeral Mass today at St. Mary's of Sorrows Church in Fairfax.

But the retired Air Force lieutenant colonel climbed to the lectern at the end of the hour-long service to read from one of his daughter's notebooks. He had found it only that morning. It was a little red, bound diary where the former Annandale High School student had written some of her favorite quotes on forgiveness.

He read from the notebook, an entry his daughter had penned in February.

"That was Mary's message," Peter Read said. "I just wanted to share it with all of you."

My heart goes out to the families of all those who perished in the VA Tech Massacre that took place on Monday, April 16, 2007. This video was created by a student from UCF from what I have gathered so far. I am not sure who this person is but all credit goes to him/her for creating this absolutely beautiful, powerful short film with a even more priceless message. Never more appropriate for the times we live in now. Mary Karen Read's very short live will always bring something to others if for nothing else than her short insightful journal quote. It goes to show that each one of us leave a mark and that we each make a difference one person at a time.
