Do I need a Drysuit to Kayak Fish?

Every year nearly 4000 people drown in the United States. A major player in drowning deaths in northern and mountainous regions is cold water, exposure, and hypothermia. Cold water can sap your energy quickly, cause hypothermia, and send you into shock all of which will accelerate the drowning process. The safest way for a kayak angler to extend the kayak fishing season is to wear some sort of immersion gear, preferably a dry suit, AND a PFD.

Here I briefly discuss the rules I use to determine when I should wear my drysuit and when I can leave it at home.
