Sea Dragon - KSP Cinematic

The Sea Dragon was a design which was studied in 1962 lead by Robert Truax. The concept for the Sea Dragon was a two-stage sea-launched orbital super heavy-lift launch vehicle which would of shattered the scale of rockets and would of altered the course of rocket technology.

The Sea Dragon would have been 150 maters tall and 23 meters in diameter and could place up to 550 tones (1,210,000 lb) into a Low Earth Orbit and would been fully reusable be recovering both stages of the rocket using inflatable flares and splashing down in the ocean. Sea Dragon would of generated more than 79 million pounds of thrust which is 10 times more than the Saturn V Moon Rocket.

Sea Dragon would have been too large to be built and launched on land so both stages would have been build in dry docks and assembled in a special lagoon at Cape Canaveral. It would be towed out to the launch point about 60 Kilometres off the coast of Florida by tugboats. Once Sea Dragon reaches the launch point buoyancy tanks would have been filled with water and sink 2/3 of the rocket into the ocean so the water can damp on the shock waves when the rocket launches.
