AP Precalculus Section 3.1 Example: Find the Amplitude of a Periodic Function from a Table

Random AP Precalculus Problems (I found on the Internet). These are not official AP Collegeboard examples, but they will definitely get the job done!
To find the amplitude of a periodic function using a table of values, look for the highest value and the lowest value that the function reaches in the table. The amplitude measures how far the graph rises above or falls below its midline, so it is calculated by taking the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value and then dividing that difference by two. In other words, the amplitude is half the distance between the top of the function and the bottom of the function. By examining the table and identifying these extreme values, you can determine how much the function oscillates up and down around its central value.
