Musk quits Trump-appointed government role: 'It's not the end of DOGE. This is just the beginning'

President Donald Trump hosted a news conference with Elon Musk in the Oval Office on Friday, following Musk's announcement that he is leaving his government role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Trump kicked off Musk's farewell by saying he has done a "fantastic job" and complimented the "substantial" savings that "could double or triple" in Musk's absence.

However, the president seemed convinced that Musk "is really not leaving."

"He's going to be back and forth, I think," Trump said. "I have a feeling. It's his baby, and I think he's going to be doing a lot of things."
