Virtual Walk in Wicklow 4K | Tonelagee Mountain Hike | Scenic Hiking in Ireland 🇮🇪

Welcome to Ernes Travel channel.
Today we are in Co. Wicklow, exactly in the Glenmacnass Waterfall and River from which we are starting a long and exciting hike towards the summit of the Tonelagee Mountain.

The Tonelagee Mountain is about 817m height and it ranks 25th among the highest peaks in Ireland.

The hike starts at the car park located just beside the river and the main road, easy to access and it offers a very suggestive resting location.

Just across the river, the terrain is mainly soft and wet, not ideal for a walk although once starting to climb it dries quickly.

There is no a clear trail, so any spot may be good to start to climb the first section of the hill, although I suggest you to proceed along the hedge of the woods where you will find a drier and smoother terrain.

During this walk, however we head north then once it dries up we start to climb the hill.

After few minutes walk you should eventually reach a trail, the terrain is quite smooth and covered by a thin layer of grass.
Follow the trail until you will reach eventually the top of the hill.

During this first section of the hike, you will enjoy a smooth but constant slope, with a stunning view just over your shoulder!

Once reached the top of the hill, the trail splits in small unclear paths untill eventually disappear. Keep heading straight, keeping the lake Ouler on your right and you will reach a small saddle among the hill and the Tonelagee.

Continue to climb, here you should be able to find again a tiny trail, that clings to the mountain. While climbing, you should be able to enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake Ouler just down your right shoulder!

Depending from your pace, you will reach the summit of the Tonelagee quite fast depsite the steep and rocky slope.

Once arrived, you will definetely enjoy a 360 view over the Wicklow Mountains.

This is by far one of the most scenic hike you will experience in Wicklow Mountains.
