Lens Thickness

Typically, a stronger prescription will cause the lenses to become thicker and heavier, putting more pressure on your nose and detracting from the appearance of your glasses. For these prescriptions, higher index materials are available. A higher index material has the ability to bend light more efficiently, making the lenses thinner and lighter. For example, an index of 1.6 will be made thinner and lighter than an index of 1.5 at the same prescription.
