Alignment, Dynamic Flex Cast, primary reflexes. María Teresa Ferrer, Dr in Physical Therapy

In the MTF Program, we focus on full-body alignment as the foundation for every child’s progress. In this case, the child presents with multiple reflexes including, but not limited to, the plantar grasp reflex, ATNR, STNR, and Moro as well as strong extensor tone. These patterns make it difficult for him to keep his head in midline, and without proper control, any movement can lead to compensations and body twisting. That’s why alignment is essential, we must guide the body first in order to safely and effectively perform any exercise.
We are also seeing more children developing hip subluxation, dislocation, or scoliosis, which reinforces the importance of this approach. Using tools like the Dynamic Flex Cast, RotaHugger and HeroHug, and with the parents’ consistent work at home, this child is a powerful example of how maintaining alignment can truly change outcomes.
