Today I make a ring inspired by my trip to China I went on last summer. It was a ton of fun and there were so many interesting materials and colors that I knew I had to make a ring inspired by it. The Summer Palace and the Forbidden City were two of the biggest inspirations behind it, the beautiful craftsmanship exemplified traditional Chinese architecture and inspired me to create a ring that embodied that. The final build materials that I decided on are 14k gold liner with a stripe of that same gold, mimicking the gold accents of the original palace, then I did a stripe of red pigment mixed with a resin binding agent, third is a copper stripe that I carved and oxidized to make it look weathered like a statue, and finally I used a stripe of Ebony. I loved how the colors turned out and I think it turned out to be a beautiful representation of the Forbidden City, be sure to let me know what you think in the comments :)
