This is England’s most magical street…🪄🎃✨ 🕯️ The Shambles is a historic street in York, dating back to the 14th century and it’s certainly one of the most interesting streets I have ever visited; it’s one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe! 📽️ And did you know The Shambles is not actually the original inspiration for Diagon Alley? At the time of writing the books, the author had never visited! However it is very similar to the fictional street with its medieval timber-framed buildings and cobbled streets, so it is more likely that the filmmakers themselves took inspiration from the street 🧙🏻‍♂️ Today you’ll find unique and charming shops in The Shambles, including a Harry Potter gift shop and the famous York Ghost Merchants where you can buy your own ghost!
