Don't Lie | The Ninth Commandment For Kids

Douglas learns the hard way why it's so important to tell the truth in this video about the ninth commandment for kids!

Douglas is generally pretty truthful, but his brother Stephen lies ALL THE TIME. But the truth is that we all lie sometimes, and that's not God's plan for us. One time Douglas started picking the wallpaper off of the wall in the hallway, he wasn't sure why, he just did. And when his mom asked him and his brother who did it, they both denied it. Since Stephen lied a lot, their mom thought he did it so he got punished. Douglas felt so bad that Stephen got in trouble, so he told him the truth, but not his parents. Stephen went and told their parents that Douglas said that he did it, but they still thought he was lying so he got in even more trouble! Douglas couldn't take it any more so he confessed. He got in trouble, but it felt good to tell the truth. When we lie, it can not only hurt us, but it can hurt other people. And on top of that, if we lie, then people won't believe what we say, like Douglas' parents didn't believe Stephen. And, as Christians, we need to make sure that people trust and believe us, because when we tell them that God loves them we want them to know it's true.
