Over one million Irish people gather at Dublin's Phoenix Park for an open-air mass with His Holiness Pope John Paul II. The crowd bursts into a rapturous applause when the Pope's helicopter comes into sight. It's believed to be the largest gathering of people in Ireland's history - September 1979.
