'Toes in the Sand' Destination Wedding Show - February 22 2014

Toes in the Sand Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Show produced by Marsha Steeves Destination Weddings BC Reg 3256 was nothing short of a gigantic success on Saturday. The show was such a hit it is still being raved about into Monday.

The beautiful Waterfall Building was transformed into a tropical paradise. As guests trekked in through the snow and rain, they were greeted at the door with a smile, a swag bag and an escape to a tropical paradise with a live Mariachi band playing in the background.

The inaugural show opened with Narges Nirumvala being the Master of Ceremonies and welcoming everyone to the show after which Marsha got up and welcomed everyone to the show. This show has been in the works for three years by Marsha, and for those of you that attended, you know that there were absolutely no details missed! Marsha had a vision for every detail and you could see that in every inch of the show.

Cesar Mendoza from the Mexican Tourist Board gave a fantastic and informative speech as to why Mexico is the place to wed. He touched on all the topics where Brides and Grooms have the most concerns and questions. By then end of his speech everyone knew why Mexico was the place to wed.

In between each speech the prizes were flowing. From complimentary mini-moons on Vancouver Island, fitness training, Bride & Groom gift bags with champagne, to one week stays in the Riviera Maya and Los Cabos to the ULTIMATE dream prizes …. a full honeymoon in Tahiti including airfare and then a COMPLETE destination wedding in Mexico with airfare, accommodations and a destination wedding package. All of the guests to each show were blown away by the these prizes!

However, the one event that got all of the festivities started was MARGARITA MADNESS!! This was the fun part for everyone. The Tiki Bar provided fresh and fabulous margaritas to everyone, and even a couple virgin ones to our younger friends! En Canto Culinary Services provided delicious tapas to all the guests, which paired well with the margaritas. (And that salsa … one word to describe it … AMAZING!) And beside the bar … the Hard Rock Hotel’s photo wall! Everyone got their margarita, put on a pair of hilarious sunglasses, a grass skirt, maybe a sombrero and they grabbed the maracas to have a little fun and unwind. And for those that took part of those hilarious photos make sure you visit the Marsha Steeves Destination Wedding’s BC Reg 3256 page to see all of your fun photos!

Guests were afterwards treated to two fashion shows, one on resort wear and the other on bridal wear. The resort wear was courtesy of Tommy Bahama and covered everything from playing volley ball on the beach to sipping cocktails to dress for a romantic dinner on the beach. The bridal wear was courtesy of Pure Magnolia, our partner company. Designer Patty Nagel put together the best collection of destination wedding bridal dresses for your dream beach wedding. Her finishing touch, was revamping Marsha’s wedding dress for donation to the YWCA’s Crabtree Women’s Association on the Downtown East Side. You may have saw the photos we posted on Facebook of her before, but wait until you see the after!

For us though, the icing on the cake was getting to give away the two dream travel gifts: the destination wedding in Mexico and the Tahitian Honeymoon. We know we made two very lucky brides extremely happy with this, as it brought us to tears knowing that we touched their lives.

Each member of our team was told how Toes in the Sand blew all other wedding shows out of the water. We were all told at different times, but different people how fantastic the show was and most surprising was the prize giveaways. One of our guests, Posh Todd, wrote a writeup about the wedding and honeymoon show on his blog, here is a quote from him:
“Saturday morning I caught up on domestic duties and also did the photo shoot and editing for today’s post, before rushing off to the beautiful Arthur Erickson designed Waterfall Building where I was a guest of the amazing Marsha Steeves for her “Toes in the Sand: Vancouver’s Premier Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Show”.

Delia and I met up with our friend Bonita and we all had a fantastic time, enjoying the presentations about exotic and tropical wedding locations, along with live music and the tastiest margaritas ever. It was the perfect afternoon soiree to help us forget about the snow and sleet and there was a marvellous fashion show, with the loveliest models.”

We could not have done this or have such a successful show without the hard work and dedication from the Marsha Steeves Destination Weddings BC Reg 3256 staff, the amazing vendors that we get the pleasure of working with on a day to day basis, the culinary skills of En Canto Catering, the volunteers from the Canadian Tourism College campuses and of course the visionary herself, Marsha Steeves.
