This is how ice cubes are made on the Lena River in Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha-Yakutia, Russia's Siberia. Ice cubes are melted and used as iced water for washing and drinking. Such ice cubes are demanded by private house holders, who are not connected to the centralized water supply system. The iced water is clean, as it's naturally filtered.

At the same time, ice cubes are still the only resource of drinking water in regular Yakut villages across Yakutia.
