20 years Post-Soviet: Azerbaijan

The Republic of Azerbaijan is located on the southwestern shore of the Caspian Sea. It separated from the USSR in 1991 and today the republic is relatively prosperous with international reserves amounting to US $35 billion. Most of the country's wealth comes from hydrocarbon exports, and it's thought that its oil and gas supplies will last for 100 years.
