Cleveland Reads hosts Victory Bash
Cleveland Reads celebrated an amazing year of reading with a Victory Bash on Saturday.
During the Victory Bash, the results of the 2023 Cleveland Reads citywide challenge were announced.
Clevelander's read 1,476,215 books and 10,699,118 minutes during the challenge. The festivities began with a parade to City Hall and concluded with a party in Public Auditorium.
The event featured free books, train rides, food trucks distributing free meals, bumper cars, live ice sculpture demonstration and more.
Cleveland Reads Citywide Reading Challenge was an initiative to combat the city's 66% illiteracy rate. Mayor Justin Bibb and others challenged Clevelanders to read one million books and/or one million minutes in 2023.
