But why is it on? The handbrake light on the dash doubles as a low brake-fluid light, so you have to take a look at the brake fluid level, and top it off. Most likely a set of new brake pads will solve the issue, as by these models its a known fact that the thinner the pads/disks get, the more the pistons have to travel for the desired brake effect, and by these cars some oil can leak at the pistons at these "extremes"
