Not giving up on anybody - University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff - Primary PCI Service
Dr Tim Kinnaird, Dr Richard Anderson and Dr Nick Ossei-Gerning, consultant cardiologists at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff outline the work of the Cardiac Intervention Unit following the quick transfer of a patient suffering a heart attack (Myocardial infarction) by ambulance crews to the Catheter Labs, where they immediately receive primary angioplasty treatment. The team outline the advantages of Primary PCI treatment, clearly explaining the procedure and outline the symptoms that patients should be aware of. The production demonstrates the successful implementation of this treatment pathway and the techniques used in a primary angioplasty procedure. This is an amazing insight into the NHS and the fantastic care that can now be received in world-class facilities.
