At Home with Jack Lenor Larsen at LongHouse Reserve

Join us in East Hampton for a behind the scenes visit with legendary textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen in his celebrated home. In the world of textiles, Jack Lenor Larsen is an icon. As one of the most influential fabric designers of our lifetime, Larsen is much more than just a weaver. As a collector, curator, prolific author, advocate of the arts, supporter of artists and artisans and gardener, he has had untold influence on the creative community. With a background in architecture and a passion for craft, he pioneered distinctive modern designs based on ancient and global techniques that were eventually manufactured in 30 countries and are now featured in museums around the world. And while he is a major player in the Craft movement, he is also a visionary who has always known how to adapt, using new technology to bridge past and present. He was the first to design upholstery for airlines and to print pattern on velvet for furnishings. His extensive travels (he has been to Japan thirty-nine times) have fueled both his work, interests and his homes, perhaps most importantly, LongHouse, his residence in East Hampton, New York. A 16 acre reserve and sculpture garden open to the public, it “exemplifies living with art in all forms.” And now Jack has designed, with Sunbrella, his first collection of performance fabrics, celebrating his love of outdoor living.
