An Imperial & Royal French Chateau, built for Louis XV and restored by Napoleon: Compiègne Palace
The Château de Compiègne is an imperial and royal residence built for the king Louis XV in the second part of the 18th century.
The Emperor Napoleon visited this Palace in 1799 and decide - before to live there - to start a huge restoration (1807) with the help of famous artists, decorators and interior designers of the time, lead by the architect Louis-Martin Berthault.
Compiègne was one of 3 seats of royal government, the others being Versailles and Fontainebleau.
The castle of Compiègne is located 70kms away from Paris (North), in the Hauts-de-France region, Oise department.
It is open to the public and has 3 museums, including the National Automobile and Carriage Museum, which you will have the privilege of discovering soon, and for the very first time, on this channel. Don't forget to subscribe to be informed :)
