The new off track F1 war between Mercedes and Red Bull explained

Mercedes and Red Bull have started the 2021 F1 season in close competition on track, and now they are doing battle off-track as well. This new battle has started as a result of Red Bull's decision to create its own powertrains division, initially to take over the running of Honda's engines in 2022, and then to build a full Red Bull engine for the new rules in 2025. Unsurprisingly Red Bull has targeted the recruitment of engine personnel from Mercedes as part of this process, which has resulted in plenty of back and forth between the two sides of the divide since the initial hires of Mercedes people were announced.
