2018 Toyota Camry XSE vs 2018 Kia Optima SXL Turbo
We're looking at two popular fully loaded mid-size family sedans, the 2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6 and 2018 Kia Optima SXL Turbo on TestDrive Showdown. Read our full review on the Camry: https://goo.gl/dKAZsi and the Optima: https://goo.gl/HYhVoE
If you had asked us when we started TestDrive over 2 years ago, whether we'd be considering Toyota Camry as a sporty vehicle, we'd have laughed and said no. But here we are in 2018 doing just that. We're looking at the fully loaded 2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6 with 301 horsepower out of a naturally aspirated V6 engine, and the fully loaded 2018 Kia Optima SXL Turbo with 245 horsepower from a turbo inline 4.
Both of these mid-size sedans offer tonnes of features to buyers, including LED lighting, 360º birds-eye camera's, rear parking sensors, dual zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated driver's steering wheel, premium audio systems, Qi wireless charging, and panoramic sunroofs. There's also a lot about these two cars that are different, which is why we've filmed this episode of TestDrive Showdown.
Our Canadian car review takes a look at the Optima vs Camry in this Showdown between two popular options here in Québec. Can the Camry V6 truly outperform the Optima Turbo in real-world driving scenarios? Which is the most comfortable, and which would we pick if our budget for a new car was $40,000?
The 2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6 is finished in black paint on a red leather sport interior. On the outside, the Camry features front and rear parking sensors, full LED headlights, a 360º bird's eye view camera system, automatic opening trunk, a sport-tuned suspension, 19" sport rims, and a quad sport exhaust. On the inside we find an 8" infotainment screen requiring Scout GPS Link for navigation, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, a colour heads-up display, a 9-speaker JBL Synthesis audio system, panoramic sunroof, HomeLink, SiriusXM Radio, and Qi wireless charging which supports devices like the iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note8.
The 2018 Kia Optima SXL Turbo is finished in white paint on a black premium leather interior. On the outside, the Optima features a 360º camera system, rear parking sensors, full LED headlights including LED fog lights, automatic power folding mirrors, 19" alloy rims, and a dual exhaust system. On the inside we find premium-oriented features such as quilted leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, an 8" navigation screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Radio, a 10-speaker harman/kardon audio system, Qi wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, and rear window sunshades.
Special thanks to Duval Toyota in Boucherville Québec for allowing us to film at their dealership and use their Camry for this episode.
