EAS: Child Abduction Emergency for Maryland (2/12/2010)

NOTE: The missing child described in the alert was found safe soon after the Amber Alert was issued.

This video was initially recorded to a VHS tape in 2010 during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. I recorded this off of the VHS playback in 2012, hence why the camera quality was actually a little better.

The channel that the TV switched to in between the Olympics on WBAL and the EAS was Channel 77, a local access channel for Baltimore City called the Education Channel. Every EAS that was ever issued by Comcast in Baltimore City in the late 2000s and early 2010s automatically switched to channel 77, as this was the primary EAS details channel for Comcast.

I actually remember this very clearly. I was at home, sitting on a chair in my basement watching the Olympics when direct in the middle of it, this alert went off. I had planned to record the Olympics, so receiving the EAS was a shocker to me. I didn't even realize it had recorded on the VHS until rewatching it a year later.

NOTE: All rights reserved to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) for the portions of the Olympic Games shown while recording this.
