Der Sustenpass an der Hauptstrasse 11 verbindet den Kanton Uri mit dem Kanton Bern. Die Passstrasse ist 45 km lang und ist eine der neueren in den Schweizer Alpen. Sie wurde erst zwischen 1938 und 1945 gebaut. Weil sie vor allem dem Tourismus dient, ist sie in der Regel nur von Juni bis Oktober offen. Die Strasse beginnt in Wassen an der Nordrampe des Gotthardpasses und führt durch die im Meiental liegenden Dörfer Meien und Färnigen mit maximal 9 Prozent Steigung. Die Passhöhe wird auf 2224 m in einem Scheiteltunnel unterquert. An der Westrampe im Berner Oberland geht der Abstieg mit ebenfalls 9 Prozent am Steingletscher vorbei durch die Orte Gadmen und Nessental im Gadmertal.
In Innertkirchen (Endpunkt der Meiringen-Innertkirchen-Bahn) vereinigen sich die Strassen vom Sustenpass und vom Grimselpass; an der Aareschlucht vorbei wird Meiringen erreicht.

Susten Pass (German: Sustenpass) (el. 2260 m.) is a mountain pass in the Swiss Alps. The pass road, built from 1938–1945, connects Innertkirchen in the canton of Bern with Wassen in the canton of Uri. A 300 metres long tunnel crosses the pass at 2,224 metres, The road begins in Wassen on the northern ramp of the Gotthard Pass and leads through the lying in Meiental villages Meien and Färnigen with a maximum of 9 percent slope. The pass is underpassed at 2224 m in a crest tunnel. At the west ramp in the Bernese Oberland, the descent with 9 percent on the stone glacier passes by the places Gadmen and Nessental in Gadmertal.

In Innertkirchen (end point of the Meiringen-Innertkirchen-Bahn), the streets of the Sustenpass and the Grimselpass merge; passing the Aare Gorge, Meiringen is reached.
