Indonesia celebrates 80 years of independence from Dutch rule | DW News

Indonesia is celebrating its 80th anniversary. On August 17th, 1945, it proclaimed its independence after centuries of Dutch colonial rule.
Celebrations are taking place across the country. The main ceremonies are being held at the presidential palace in the capital Jakarta. The festivites include a flag ceremony, military show and musical performances.
