Palestine Action Activists Jailed Over Factory Raid

Four Palestine Action activists were jailed for between four years eight months and seven years eight months after breaking into the Elbit Systems factory near Bristol in August 2024, causing about £1.2m of damage and injuring a police sergeant. Samuel Corner received seven years eight months for criminal damage and grievous bodily harm to Sgt Kate Evans; Charlotte Head and Leona Kamio each got five years; Fatema Rajwani was sentenced to four years eight months. They will serve an additional year on licence and are not eligible for early release. The judge said the raid aimed to influence the government and that the offences were treated as terrorism-connected. The raid was livestreamed; Head drove the prison van into the compound; Corner fractured Sgt Evans' spine with a sledgehammer. The Crown argued a terrorism connection; the defense contended it would undermine criminal justice. Outside, about 500 demonstrators gathered; police arrested more than 100 as they dispersed.
