INCUBUS - CIRCLES (Drum Cover)

Cover #73. It's hard to pick a favorite Incubus tune as there are so very many great ones, however this specific song has an awesome energy and tempo for running. I used to put this on a loop and just run forever. Well, not necessarily forever - the tempo is actually quite pushing, but rather until I couldn't anymore, Haha! At that point I'd put on 'Dig' which has a nice relax-jog kind of tempo and vibe.

Either way, always loved this tune. The energy is killer, José's drumming is cool as always, the groove and how he chooses to phrase things during the verses is quite unique; where the hi-hat's being played closed/open and for how long. Just really cool. I attempted to do as much of a note-for-note cover as possible, even during the bridge.

Still getting used to the new cymbals, how to make them really sing the way I want as well as appear in the mix in a nice way. Considering it's the second cover I've done with them, I think they sound absolutely fantastic! This isn't where I would say that these cymbals shine when it comes to style and way of being played, but I like to explore everything. I want to get to know these guys and how they work in each and every situation.
