What is Chinese postpartum confinement? #shorts #childbirth #babies

The Chinese tradition of postpartum confinement, known as zuo yue zi or ‘sitting the month’, is a time for new mothers to recover after childbirth.

In 2023, Dateline travelled to Taiwan where this ancient practice has been given a modern and luxurious spin but some couples are still observing it the traditional way.
