Step onboard one of Malev's Lisunov Li-2 aircraft, the license-built Soviet-version of the Douglas DC-3 with an almost identical airframe and cockpit. Board the airplane from the side door, walk through the cabin and enter the cockpit for an amazing view of pilot controls, right next to a Tupolev Tu-134. Note that some switches are labled in Russian, while others in Hungarian!
HA-LIQ, this specific Li-2, was purchased by the Hungarian People's Army on March 27, 1952. In 1957, the aircraft was handed over to Malév, the state airline, but its military green colour remained for some time. From 1958, it operated as a cargo aircraft, then returned to the military, before being scrapped in 1974. It was subsequently renovated and painted back in civilian colours as a museum exhibit and filming prop since 1980, transferred to Budapest Aeropark in 1993.
