When the Arched Angel Doesn’t Work
The arched angel is a position you may see a lot of lifters get into, particularly those that lack a lot of shoulder internal rotation in their turnover.
You’ll see lifters lean back super aggressively, and it actually often looks really cool in hookgrip slow-mo videos.
Whilst it can be hugely beneficial for a successful extension, it falls short when we create too much swing in the barbell’s trajectory.
Lifters will often be unable to receive the bar in a full squat always having to power… or worse find them selves constantly missing behind their head.
A good cue or fix os to focus on what happens to the barbell at navel height.
If we focus on keep the elbows up to there and the bar close the rest kinda takes care of itself.
