RIP Mary Wilson: The Supreme Sings "The Way We Were"

A short compilation of The Supremes' founding member, Mary Wilson, singing "The Way We Were". "The Way We Were" is the hit theme song, originally recorded by Barbara Streisand for 1973 film of the same name.

Mary Wilson performed "The Way We Were" after original members Florence Ballard and Diana Ross had departed from the group in 1967 and 1970, respectively. Mary Wilson upheld and continued The Supremes legacy with Cindy Birdsong, Jean Terrell, Lynda Laurence, Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene. In the 1970s alone, they acheived 4 million-selling US singles and several international hits, including, "Up the Ladder to the Roof", "Stoned Love", Nathan Jones" and "Floy Joy".

The Supremes; originally comprised of Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson and Diana Ross, are the most successful American group and girl group of all-time, with 12 number one hits (and 5 consecutive between 1964-65) - "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love", "Come See About Me", "Stop! In the Name of Love", "Back in My Arms Again", "I Hear a Symphony", "You Can't Hurry", "You Keep Me Hangin' On", "Love Is Here and Now You're Gone", "The Happening", "Love Child" and "Someday We'll Be Together" - on the US Billboard Hot 100. They have sold a reported 100 million records worldwide.
