First Thomas Cook Repatriation Flights bring Customers back into Manchester Airport

After the collapse of Thomas Cook on Sunday, the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), put operation Matterhorn into action. The operation will repatriate the 160,000 British tourists overseas over the next two weeks.

This operation has taken place from numerous UK airports. With Manchester Airport being a big hub for Thomas Cook with both long haul and short haul operations, it has meant the airport has seen a large volume of aircraft covering the Thomas Cook flights .

Both narrow and widebody aircraft have been used for operation Matterhorn with Manchester receiving aircraft such as a Malaysian A380 (which will be operating 2 flights a day until 7th October), in addition to an Atlas and Wamos Air 747, AtlasGlobal A330, Euro Atlantic 767, Plus Ultra A346.

The Thomas Cook liveried aircraft seen departing in this video are owned and operated by Avion Express. This company wet lease the aircraft to Thomas Cook during peak summer season. Seeing as these aircraft are not owned nor operated by Thomas Cook, Avion Express were able to participate in
