1999 Steel City Mazda AMA Motocross Championship (Final Round) Part 1

This is part 1 of the 12th and final round of the 1999 Mazda AMA Motocross Championship from Steel City Raceway in Delmont, PA. This is the last of only 2 Nationals from 1999 that I have.

Returning 250cc contenders like Kevin Windham, Mike LaRocco, Greg Albertyn, 250cc rookie Sebastien Tortelli, Larry Ward, 2-time 125cc champ Steve Lamson, Robbie Reynard, Ezra Lusk, Damon Huffman, 1998 125cc runner-up John Dowd, Jeff Emig, Tim Ferry, Jimmy Button, and defending champ Doug Henry battle it out for the 1999 250cc Mazda AMA Motocross Championship. This is Doug Henry's last full Motocross season, and the first Motocross season that Jeremy McGrath does not compete in. This marks the final National (full-time) for defending champ Doug Henry, and finishes with a 10-8 (10th overall). Team Suzuki's Greg Albertyn secures his 1st and only Motocross title with a 1-1 sweep; little did we know this would be his last Motocross win of his career. The championship for Albee was Suzuki's first in 18 years with Kent Howerton winning the championship way back in 1981. This is also the final national of the 20th century with the year 2000 right around the corner.

Returning 125cc contenders like Brock Sellards, Stephane Roncada, Nick Wey, David Pingree, Michael Brandes, 125cc West SX champ Nathan Ramsey, Kelly Smith, 125cc East SX champ and Yamaha of Troy rookie Ernesto Fonseca, Casey Johnson, Casey Lytle, Tallon Vohland, 3-time Arenacross champ Buddy Antunez, Danny Smith, and 2-time defending champ Ricky Carmichael battle it out for the 1999 125cc Mazda AMA Motocross Championship. This is Ricky Carmichael's final Motocross season in the 125cc class before moving up to the 250cc class for 2000 and beyond. Ricky Carmichael goes for the tie with Mark Barnett for the all-time 125cc win record of 25 career wins; he would later surpass that record at this exact race 2 years later in 2001 with win #26 -- a record that would stand for just 3 years before James Stewart eclipsed that in 2004 with 28. David Pingree earns his first career Motocross overall podium with a 2-5 for 3rd overall. World GP competitors Alessio Chiodi and Carl Nunn make one-off appearances at this race.

Enjoy.

(NOTE: A single part is missing due to it not being available to add in for the Video Editor, so this is all you'll see unless I decide to show the last part as a separate video.)
