Elephant Seal mating - no personal space allowed

Northern Elephant Seals come ashore in the winter to give birth, nurse their young, and mate. The Beachmaster puts in serious time to defend his prime real estate for the opportunity to mate with a female before she heads back to the ocean. They don't mate just once, but in some cases in the 2021 season this Beachmaster would mate with one female over 70 times. This video is one of those events, and to me it looks like this could be 3 attempts before reaching climax and drumming at one of the competitions skulking around on the edge of the island.
