Special focus tonight on the lowriders that bounce, shine, and represent Southern California pride at its finest. A little history on our iconic home base: Built in 1949 by local residents Scott MacDonald and Ward Albert, this is the oldest remaining Bob’s Big Boy in America. Designed by renowned architect Wayne McAllister in that perfect transitional Streamline Moderne-to-1950s coffee-shop style (complete with the towering neon sign), it was named a California Point of Historical Interest. The MacDonald family restored it in the 1990s, bringing back the classic vibe — and the legendary Friday night classic car gatherings that still draw crowds today.

Hollywood loves this place too. The Beatles stopped in for a real American diner meal during their 1965 U.S. tour (you can still request the Beatles Booth), and Michael Mann filmed key scenes from the 1995 crime classic Heat here with Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Val Kilmer. David Lynch was a longtime regular, and countless other stars have pulled up over the decades.
