Tesla's first electric SUV - the Model X - is getting a little long in the tooth. And while we -- and plenty others -- love its crazy falcon wing doors, spacious cabin and insane performance (that still seems impossible for an SUV to offer), sales have been dropping in recent years.

And with Tesla now producing Model Y - a far more affordable, everyday car with more practical undertones and less complicated parts - some people have been asking us what we think might happen to the Model X in the future...especially as it reaches the age where most automakers would think about retiring or completely refreshing it.

Here's our take, based on what we know of the car, its market, its strengths (and weaknesses) and where Tesla appears to be heading as an automaker.
