EF-S 10-18 Vs EF-S 10-22 : Battle of the Ultra-Wides

The Canon EFS 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM has a great reputation as Canons leading crop sensor ultra wide angle lens, but the newer, less expensive comrade the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 is a great contender in the field also as it has Image Stabiliser and the silent STM focus motor... yes it's a slower lens and it's made of plastic... but can it compete with the proven performer, let alone hold its own or be better.

What are your thoughts on these two lenses. I'm learning about them just as you are so I would be keen to hear what you think in the comments.
