Gothenburg – one of the world’s most sustainable cities

Gothenburg, Sweden’s second biggest city, is something of a pioneer, having started with an electrified bus route back in 2015. This year, about 150 new electric buses started rolling the streets of the city.

Lonely Planet has ranked Gothenburg as the world’s best sustainable city to visit 2021. The city was also rated as the world’s most sustainable destination by the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDSI) for four consecutive years (2016–2019).
