Embedded Recipes 2022 - The next 50 million firmware updates
In this talk I will briefly introduce the LVFS website used by hundreds of hardware vendors, and also the fwupd project now used by millions of end-users. Right from the start the LVFS was designed as an open ecosystem that respected your privacy, which allowed other projects such as “uSWID as a SBoM” and “Host Security ID” to flourish alongside. During the talk I’ll talk about the new projects, and show the latest usage metrics along with some graphs never seen before. As the LVFS grows, hundreds more vendors and millions more users will use the ecosystem we’ve developed to keep hardware secure. There are some huge hurdles still to overcome, and we can discuss ways to help with the audience during the question time.
