Looking for the cannibals - O'Hanlon's Heroes
In the second episode of the first season, O'Hanlon travels behind the French explorer Paul du Chaillu (1831 - 1903). Chaillu was the first white person to describe the existence of the gorilla, pygmies and cannibals.
"We were in the black center, where on a mat under a sheet we let the sounds of the jungle come through the tent sail, while fourteen black men surrounded us with card games and giggles. And just after midnight, when we thought we were sleeping, the Fang and Pygmies came to our bed to tell us about cannibalism and fetish and white energy for which death was the sacrifice."
We drove for hours, on and on, and we heard the cough of a leopard, shouts of gorillas and walked the elephant path.
We were in Africa. The Africa of Du Chaillu.
In this episode, not for the fainthearted, we will know more about cannibalism, ritual murders, exorcism, witchcraft, ritual slaughter... "We carry a cross around our neck, that is a fetish. Every Sunday we drink the blood and we eat the body of God. That is cannibalism. Our faith is also built on a ritual sacrifice."
