In this video, Let's see how to make "uttapam in 3 ways" at home in a few easy steps.
Ingredients:
Onion - 2 no
Tomato - 2 no
Carrot - 1
Dosa batter - as per need
Oil - as per need
Preparation Method:
Dice the onions with the knife
Collect it in the chopper and chop it nicely
Once finely chopped, collect it in a bowl and close it with a lid.
Take one medium-sized carrot and peel off the skin.
Grate the carrot with a thin hole grater
Once done, collect it in a bowl and close it with a lid.
Cut the tomatoes and remove the seeds.
( use thick tomatoes, not over-ripped or soft ones)
Slice it and chop it nicely
Once finely chopped, collect it in a bowl and close it with a lid.
For uttapam, we use the same batter as the idli and dosa.
Once the batter is grounded, it needs to ferment well.
It takes about 8 -12 hours. (Depending on the climatic conditions.)
Post 10-12 hours, it looks like this.
The batter has to be a little loose and thin and should flow easily
Note - If it's thick, like idli batter, add a little water to loosen it.
Mix the batter well and close with a lid.
Onion uttapam:- Heat the dosa tawa
Once heated, turn the flame into medium-low
Pour one spatula full of dosa batter into the centre of the tawa
Spread gently clockwise to make a small round shape
Spread the chopped onions on top of the dosa before it is fully cooked
Pour 1 tsp of oil and close with a lid
Lift slightly all around the dosa and turn over cook both sides for 2 minutes once cooked
Remove it on a serving plate.
Carrot uttapam:- Heat the dosa tawa
Once heated, turn the flame into medium-low
Pour one spatula full of dosa batter into the centre of the tawa
Spread gently clockwise to make a small round shape
Spread the grated carrot on top of the dosa before it is fully cooked
Pour 1 tsp of oil and close with a lid
Lift slightly all around the dosa and turn over cook both sides for 2 minutes once cooked
Remove it on a serving plate.

Once heated, turn the flame into medium-low
