I’ve done it again haven’t I? And this time I’m a bit battered.

Me and Sarah both have new bikes so we decided to have a couple of days of riding. Day 1 was at the Forest of Dean where I found out my dropper post hadn’t been installed correctly and I took a couple of “light” spills due to the dry dusty conditions. Day 2 was at Bike Park Wales.

Our very first time at BPW – a purely down hill centre. Our first run down – Terry’s Belly. I took the lead and went at a comfortable pace. I wasn’t pushing it but for some reason I completely fucked up in the lamest way. I got a bit of air off a little roller, rotated over the handlebars and when my front wheel hit the second roller it threw me straight off. I felt the pain in my side and back first but when I went to pick me bike up I felt my shoulder crunch.

A couple of guys stopped and helped get my bike down the trail and back up the centre and it was off to hospital. I had two X Rays and thankfully both came back clear. In the Doctors opinion my shoulder had popped out of the socket slightly and went back in. It wasn’t enough for a full dislocation but it was enough to cause some muscle / whatever else is in there damage. I’m now in a sling and resting up for a week before getting a check up.

The crash also left a lot of gravel rash on my shoulder / back / arm which was all cleaned up when I got home and after a couple of days my arm is getting better but my hip is worse. The hospital didn’t inspect that as I didn’t really think it was a problem area but maybe it is....

Either way, apologies but I can’t really make any videos at the moment wrenching on bikes. At this point I can just about bring a spoon to my mouth with my right hand... movement is limited. Anyway, that’s the unedited video of a really lame crash with big consequences. I’ll b investing in some more armour now!
