2D Platformer in Unreal Blueprint - Video 16 - Enemy AI Part 1

Part of a series focusing on how to program games in Unreal.

In this video, we begin building out enemy AI for our 2D platformer. We start by clarifying what "AI" means in the context of game development—contrasting modern Large Language Models with the Finite State Machines and scripted behaviors used in gaming. You will learn how to set up the foundational components for Unreal Engine’s AI system, including the AI Controller, Behavior Trees, and Blackboards. The session concludes with a 3D demonstration of the Navigation Mesh (Nav Mesh) to show how AI can dynamically navigate around obstacles.
