SKS rear mount optics 1 (ban state rifle series)

this is a quick survey of some options for mounting scopes or other optics onto an SKS platform carbine.

Choate side mount is a permanent modification, requires drilling and tapping the receiver. Not difficult, though.

chinese produced set screw retained dust cover mounts vary, but are usually usable with some tweaking of the mount itself for finish, "truing" or "timing" and specification size.

Aperture sights are a good answer. the williams brand ones seem to work for many people. I make welded aperture plates on stock surplus sights. Mine are sold on a gun broker auction site (under my santaroga handle) as well as ebay. (ebay can disappear at any moment, depending on their censorship status)

I'm avoiding examining the Bsquare and aluminum rail dustcovers right now. I could be persuaded to work on a different system using a "QD" set screw system and a low mount rail... but that's time and money.

Live videos with sample targets coming when I can afford to do it.
