Molecular Sieve Gas Dehydration
This video is on “Molecular Sieve Gas Dehydration “. The target audience for this course is chemical and process engineers and chemical engineering students.
Molecular sieve is a novel separation material that is used in high performance separation processes. It belongs to the broader class of adsorbent materials. They are used in applications that accomplish separation and purification to a level that cannot be achieved by other separation technologies or materials. Traditional technologies/materials suffer from competition for adsorption of several molecules & hence low selectivity.
Dehydration and gas purification are very critical processing steps in the production of olefins in refineries and petrochemical plants. Dehydration of natural gas is an important step to produce gas that meets the quality specifications for pipeline transportation. Molecular sieves are only adsorbents that are capable of achieving the ultra purification that the processes need. This video focuses on the molecular sieve, its structure, characteristics and types, selection criteria, relative performance over other adsorbent materials, operation of dehydration towers, regeneration methods, ageing and useful life.
