This week, Becky welcomes one of the hardest-working and coolest filmmakers she knows to the pod: writer/director Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Swiped, Valley Girl). Rachel shares how being thrown into the deep end of film production right out of college led to her directing eight movies (!) before turning 30—not to mention one starring comedy legends Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig. She and Becky also go behind the scenes of the labor of love that was Rachel’s musical remake of the ’80s classic Valley Girl for MGM—with Becky having a front-row seat to the action as her husband, Matt, produced the film. They then dive into Rachel’s latest film, Swiped, inspired by Whitney Wolfe Herd’s journey to creating Bumble—and why its themes felt so personal—before Rachel reveals the movie that means more to her than any other.
