Hey guys ,welcome to my channel. This is a straightforward kaftan dress tutorial. it is really simple and very easy to do yourself .

To cut a long Kaftan dress you need 3- 3.5 yards or meters of fabric depending on your height.

Firstly you need to fold the whole fabric into 2 length wise,the you fold again into 4 horizontally .

Place on whatever surface is suitable for you to start cutting. Start with the neckline after ascertaining the length you will need .I used a 5 by 4 inches neckline for this kaftan dress tutorial. Then I went ahead to make 3 more inches opening in the front neckline just under the initial 5 inches depth.

Next I measure 40 inches from top of the folded kaftan dress pattern to make a curve on the sides. Once the curve is drawn,I went ahead to trace the bottom part of the dress ,I made it 16 inches wide at the bottom to allow for ease of movement.

Subsequently I outlined the form of the kaftan dress by measuring 11 inches from the top to create the armhole and then got my bust,waist and hip using a Uk size 18 measurement.

Remember to trace on right side of the fabric to make it easy for you to sew along the markings.

To start sewing,use a matching cotton bias to fold the neckline starting with the tiny opening of 3 inches before doing the full neckline. Then you need to fold the curve sides up to 40 inches length separately. Next you should close the straight bottom part of the kaftan dress ( from the bottom of the dress to the knee.) from the inside so the stitches stay on the inside.
flip over and sew on the dress to get your form.
